🥄 Chattanooga’s Scoop — September 28, 2026
A Little Different Scoop This Week…
This week’s Scoop is coming to you from a little farther north than Chattanooga.
We traded Tennessee for a few days in Boston and Portland, Maine, and instead of the normal lineup this week, I thought I’d share a few pictures and highlights from the trip.
And yes… there was one pretty big highlight. 💍

💬 Quote of the Week
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” — Helen Keller
This one felt pretty fitting this week.
Sometimes you just have to get out of the routine, go somewhere you’ve never been, eat way too much seafood, and make some memories.
📍 First Stop: Boston

We started the trip in Boston and packed quite a bit into our time there.
We made our way through the city, checked out Harvard Square, explored some of the historic neighborhoods, ate plenty of good food, and got to see Boston from the water.
But this might have been the view that stole the show..

sunset in Portland,ME
I don't think the picture even does this sunset justice.
Boston was busy, historic, and full of energy — but after a couple of days, it was time to head north.
🚆 Next Stop: Portland, Maine
We hopped aboard the train and headed up the coast to Portland.
And Maine pretty much looked exactly like I hoped it would.

Rocky coastline. Cold Atlantic water. Lighthouses. Lobster boats.
This was Portland Head Light, and if you ever make it to this part of Maine, put it on the list.
It's one of those places that actually looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.
🦞 We Definitely Didn't Go Hungry

I knew Maine was serious about seafood.
I didn't realize just how serious.
Fresh oysters everywhere, lobster rolls, seafood markets and enough different varieties of oysters to make you realize you've apparently known nothing about oysters your entire life.
And naturally…

We had to do the lobster rolls.
Several of them.
No regrets.
🌧️ Even the Rain Felt Like Maine

We didn't get perfect weather every day — and strangely, that ended up being part of the experience.
A rainy morning walking around Portland's Old Port, watching the fishing boats in the harbor, actually felt about as Maine as Maine could possibly get.
The whole area has a character that's hard to describe until you're here.
❤️ A Trip We'll Remember
Boston was awesome.
Maine might have been even better.
But the best part was getting away for a few days, exploring somewhere completely different and making some memories together.
And judging by that first picture…
I'd say this trip turned out to be a pretty important one. 💍
Next week, we'll get back home and back to your regularly scheduled Chattanooga's Scoop — good news, local happenings, real estate and everything happening around the Scenic City.
Until then, we'll enjoy a little more Maine.
