☀️ Chattanooga’s Scoop — August 31, 2026

💭 QUOTE OF THE WEEK

❝

If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.” — Dolly Parton

This weeks scoop is dedicated to Dolly Parton. I never once heard anything bad about her. And I think she made a real impact in a positive way.

❤️ GOOD NEWS AROUND TENNESSEE

✈️ Could Nashville's Airport Be Named After Dolly Parton?

There may soon be a pretty fitting Tennessee name welcoming travelers to Music City.

Governor Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announced plans to explore naming BNA in honor of Dolly Parton. The Metro Nashville Airport Authority is expected to consider its naming policy and the proposal at its September 17 meeting.

It would be quite the tribute to one of Tennessee's most recognizable and beloved names.

👶 Supporting Families Through the NICU Journey

Some of our region's smallest patients — and their families — are getting some much-needed support.

A NICU support group connected with Erlanger Children's Hospital is helping families navigate one of the most stressful and emotional experiences a parent can face. It's a reminder that sometimes making a difference doesn't require solving someone's problem — it simply means making sure they don't have to face it alone.

Chattanooga Will Climb to Remember

This year marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks, and Chattanooga's annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is returning with a new home at Erlanger Park.

First responders and community members will climb together in remembrance of those who lost their lives, including the hundreds of first responders who never made it home.

It's the 12th year for Chattanooga's memorial climb, and the event is open to the community — not just firefighters and first responders.

🎮 Turns Out All That Gaming Might Pay Off

Here's one you probably didn't expect.

Hamilton County 911 is looking at the skills gamers develop — including multitasking, situational awareness and making quick decisions — and how those abilities could translate into careers as 911 telecommunicators.

When emergency calls come in, dispatchers have to process information, make decisions and coordinate with crews simultaneously. Apparently, years spent behind a controller may build a few useful real-world skills after all.

Parents of teenagers everywhere may want to skip this story. 😂

🍸 DESTINATION OF THE WEEK

The Rosecomb

Looking for one of Chattanooga's coolest spots for a date night or drinks with friends? Put The Rosecomb on your list.

Tucked inside a charming 1920s cottage in the historic Riverview neighborhood, Rosecomb feels more like you've stumbled into someone's incredibly cool house than a traditional restaurant or bar.

The menu leans into Southern Appalachian-inspired food, while the bar serves up craft cocktails, unique wines, beer and some impressive non-alcoholic options. Add in the intimate cottage setting and garden patio and it's easy to see why this place has become a Chattanooga favorite.

And it has some serious credentials: The Rosecomb was named a MICHELIN Recommended restaurant in the inaugural MICHELIN Guide American South.

One important heads-up before you go: Rosecomb is 21+ at all times.
