☀️ The Good News
🛝 Hamilton County Opens Its Largest Inclusive Playground
This one is pretty special.
The new Harvest Inclusive Park at Jack Benson Heritage Park has officially opened in East Brainerd. The nearly 17,000-square-foot playground was designed so children of all abilities can play together, with accessible equipment, sensory panels, musical instruments and more.
The $2.5 million project started with Chattanooga Fire Captain Skyler Phillips' vision of creating a place where his son Noah, who is on the autism spectrum, could play alongside everyone else.

🌟 Chattanooga 3-Year-Old Headed for the Big Screen in Times Square
How cool is this?
Three-year-old Chattanooga native Margo Kawakami has been selected to appear in the National Down Syndrome Society's 2026 Buddy Walk video presentation in Times Square!
Her family will travel to New York to see Margo's smile displayed on one of the most famous screens in the world.
Even better, Margo's family's experience inspired her mom Morgan to write the children's book I Have Something Extra, celebrating inclusion and the things that make each of us unique.

🍎 East Brainerd Teacher Named Educator of the Week
Congratulations to Laverne Bowers, a fifth-grade teacher at East Brainerd Elementary!
Ms. Bowers was named Educator of the Week for her dedication to helping her students not only in the classroom, but in all aspects of their lives.
Chattanooga has some incredible teachers — and we're always happy to give them some recognition here in the Scoop.
❤️ Helping Families Through Their Toughest Days
A Chattanooga-area NICU support group is making a difference for families caring for some of our region's most fragile babies.
Having a child in the NICU can turn a family's world upside down, and having people nearby who understand that experience can make a tremendous difference.

🩺 September's Nurse of the Month
Another local healthcare worker is getting some well-deserved recognition.
Local 3's September Nurse of the Month is being celebrated not just for caring for patients, but for continuing to learn, grow and improve throughout her career.
People like this are a big part of what keeps our community going.
