🍦 Chattanooga’s Scoop

September 7, 2026

💭 QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” — Aesop

A good reminder heading into a new week. You never really know how much a small gesture, encouraging word, or helping hand might mean to somebody.

☀️ THE GOOD NEWS

🍎 Chattanooga Teacher Brings the Energy to the Classroom

There are teachers who teach the lesson — and then there are teachers who make kids excited to learn.

Jennifer Buol, a first-grade teacher at Park View Elementary, was named Educator of the Week for the energy, enthusiasm, and dedication she brings to her classroom every day.

Here’s to the teachers helping shape Chattanooga’s next generation one classroom at a time. 👏

❤️ Chattanooga Is Celebrating Its Mental Health Heroes

AIM Center is shining a spotlight on some of the people making a difference in mental health throughout our community.

The organization has announced its 2026 Mental Health Hero Award winners, recognizing advocates, healthcare professionals, community organizations, young leaders, and others working to improve mental health awareness, recovery, access, and dignity.

The inaugural Mental Health Hero Awards Dinner will bring everyone together October 29 at The Westin Chattanooga.

There are a lot of people doing meaningful work behind the scenes in our city. It’s good to see them get some recognition.

🤝 A Big Day of Giving Back Is Coming to Chattanooga

One of Chattanooga’s biggest volunteer efforts of the year is right around the corner.

United Way of Greater Chattanooga's Fall Day of Caring returns September 18, bringing volunteers together to tackle projects for nonprofits throughout our community.

Projects are now open to the public, giving Chattanoogans another opportunity to roll up their sleeves and make a tangible difference close to home.

Sometimes making Chattanooga better really is as simple as showing up.

🏛️ Growing Without Forgetting Where We Came From

Chattanooga has changed dramatically over the last several decades — but what pieces of the city's history should we make sure come along for the ride?

Preserve Chattanooga is developing a new citywide Historic Preservation Plan, the first comprehensive effort of its kind here in nearly 50 years.

Residents have been weighing in on historic buildings, neighborhoods, landscapes, and cultural sites they believe should be protected as Chattanooga continues to grow.

The goal isn't to stop progress. It's to make sure the character that makes Chattanooga Chattanooga doesn't disappear along the way.

🏡 REAL ESTATE CORNER

🏠 LISTING OF THE WEEK

809 N Valleywood Cir — Hixson

$355,000 | 4 Beds | 3 Baths | 2,155 Sq. Ft.

This week's pick gives you a whole lot of house for the money.

The main level features an updated kitchen with granite countertops, newer appliances, plenty of natural light, and three bedrooms — while the finished basement adds a family room with fireplace, fourth bedroom, full bath, and plenty of flexibility.

But one of my favorite parts is outside: a screened porch overlooking a large fenced backyard on nearly half an acre.

Throw in a two-car garage, county taxes, and a convenient Hixson location and you've got a pretty compelling package at $355K.

🔑 Thinking About Making a Move?

Whether you're buying your first house, looking for something with a little more room, or wondering what your current home could sell for, I'm always happy to help.

And sometimes the best opportunities never make it into the Scoop.
